15 Months Old

Our little Ryder bug has really become a little man in the last few weeks.  He is walking, and sometimes all but running, everywhere.  Here is a list of his favorite things now that he is such a big boy.

  • Going on walks.  He will walk all around the orchard following the dogs, picking up hazelnuts and "collecting" them, to the pond to throw rocks in for Chase, and just exploring the world.
  • "Helping" mommy and daddy.  He helps unload the dishwasher, dust, pick things up off the floor and his favorite thing is to help daddy work on the house.  :)
  • Chase... our dog.  He wants to throw the ball for him, pet him, lay on him, and follow him everywhere.
  • Opening doors, closing doors
  • His toy car.  He likes to sit on it and play with all the little gadgets.  Ryder is also able to walk his feet and move forward and backward.  He also likes to push it from behind, sometimes he goes really fast!
  • Water.  He pretty much likes ALL water, his little pool, the big pool at Jacey and Rahim's, being sprayed by the hose, the sprinkler, a bucket of water... we have a water dog.  However, he acts like I'm killing him when I wash his hair, go figure.
  • Matchbox cars and trucks.  Ryder loves to make the car/truck noise as he pushes them around.
  • Fruit - eating it and holding it.  In the grocery store he wants to grab and hold all fruit as soon as he can see it.  It leads to some very interesting behavior at times.
  • Stinky (his giraffe) is still his best friend.
  • Cousins.  He gets so excited to see and play with his cousins, probably because they are all so wonderful!
  • "Driving" the real gator, driving the little gator, my car, Jonathan's truck... anything with a steering wheel.  I'm sure that in no time he will be driving the gator around just like Franklin.
  • Throwing things.  Sometimes it's fun, like when he is throwing a ball, and sometimes it's not so awesome, like when he is throwing food.
  • Our cats.  He will giggle and giggle watching those kitties play and run around.  Dora (the grey one) will come in and rub on him and give him a lot of attention.  He just loves it!
  • Stairs.  He wants to go up, he wants to go down.... all the live long day.  Thank goodness for baby gates.
  • Playing chase/I'm gonna get you.  Oh the giggling!  LOVE IT!
  • Waking up with mommy and daddy.  He sleeps in his crib most of the night but in the mornings (sometimes very early morning) he just can not go back to sleep.  So we bought a king bed and let him come snuggle with us.  He wakes up SO HAPPY.  Snuggles with mommy, then rolls over to snuggle with daddy, then back and forth for awhile.  Then he starts talking, giggling, and playing.  What a wonderful way to wake up.  :)
  • Books.  When he wants to read a book, you must sit down and read it.  Never a problem since I always make time to read books with him, and so does Jonathan.
  • He just started playing peek-a-boo.  The first time ever was with Auntie Kellie.  Now he does it himself all the time, except half the time he covers his nose and mouth instead of his eyes, which only makes it cuter.
  • Saying, "hi." Every time he comes around a corner and sees you he says it, every time we come around the corner he says it.  He says it to people in the grocery store, people that drive up to the house, everyone.  Such a social little bug.
  • Waving.  He is very good at waving hello and goodbye.  Cuteness!
