11 Months Old

11 Months Old:
  • Ryder has 9 teeth! Five upper teeth (middle, the ones next to that, and a one year molar on the back right) and 4 bottom teeth (middle and the two next to that are just barely poking through).
  • He wants to hold the spoon and feed himself.  He has to be the one to dip the spoon in the food (I attempt to help him and it goes alright).
  • While standing up he will let go of his support and stand by himself.  However, it's as if he doesn't know he is doing it because as soon as I say anything he panics and grabs something or sits down.
  • Ryder has figured out how to turn on the vacuum cleaner.
  • Sometimes he pats our back when he gives us hugs.
  • When he wants something he insists that he gets it, and if we say no and take it away (like the phone so he doesn't keep calling 911) he cries and throws a mini fit.  Too bad little buddy, you don't always get your way...  :)
  • Ryder "moos" when asked what a cow says.  I love that this is his first animal sound!
  • When he wants to go somewhere or see something he points at it.  It is very cute!
  • He brings us books when he wants us to read them.
  • Ryder has become very interested in putting lids on things.  His favorite new toy is one of his little freezer containers and the green lid.  He will spend a long time putting the lid on and taking it back off.  He also enjoys trying to put the lid on his coffee can.  If he is having a hard time he will grab my hand and put it on the lid to help him.
  • He eats three meals a day.  He normally has fruit in the morning and then 2 "meals" that I've made, pureed, and frozen.  He is getting to the point where he really just wants to eat exactly what Jonathan and I are eating.  So we have to take small bits of things to feed him, and sometimes he will only eat it if it's off our spoon not his baby spoon.
  • Now he not only wants the remote... he will hold it and crawl all over the house with it.  This makes finding the remote even more fun.
  • Ryder claps his hands when he is happy.  Sometimes when he is nursing he will stop nursing, smile and start clapping.  It is so sweet and makes me feel so full of love.
  • He has figured out how to unplug the power cord to my computer (it magnets on) and thinks it is a fun game to unplug it and try to plug it back in.
  • Ryder loves his bath time but has decided that I'm trying to kill him when I was his hair.
  • He is sleeping in his own room and is only waking up 2 times a night.  The first chunk of time is usually around 6 hours long!  What an improvement!
  • He still takes two naps most days.  The morning one is usually the longer one at about an hour.  The second nap is about 45 minutes.  I am dreading the day when he no longer takes two naps.
  • Ryder is getting more independent and will play by himself for longer periods of time.
  • Sometimes I let him nap with me holding him and him latched because I just miss the snuggles from when he was a little guy... I feel the end of breastfeeding is going to come quickly and I'm already sad about it!

First time in a swing!  He was unsure at first then like it and started clapping.
